Our trip to Florida this year is going to be a whole three weeks long and I am so excited.
We’ve bought an annual pass so we’ll be able to go in and out of Walt Disney World at our leisure. As a result, I’ve got a whole host of must do things that I want to tick off. Some are big, some are little.
Here’s a rundown of five brand new (to me) things that I want to do. If you’ve done any of these things and want to tell me they’re a good/bad idea, let me know in the comments! Or if you think there’s something else I should be doing, let me know that too.
Try a violet lemonade
Yep, we’re starting off BIG here.
The violet lemonade is an Instagrammers’ dream, and apparently tastes even better. It’s only available during Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival. Despite having been there during F&G many many times I’ve somehow never tried this wondrous drink. It’s vital I try it. And take photos of it. And with it. You’ll see them on here at some point I’m sure.
Watch the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks display
We caught the end of the Star Wars fireworks last year as we were coming out of watching Fantasmic, but couldn’t stop to watch properly as we were swept along with the crowd. Justin is a massive Star Wars
nerd fan, and I enjoy the films as well so this time we’re going to make an effort to watch these fireworks. And Fantasmic on another night, of course, because I LOVE Fantasmic.
Visit Pandora – World of Avatar
We last visited Walt Disney World in March last year, two months before Pandora opened. For the last 10 months I’ve had to read about and listen to guests raving about how great this area is. And I’ll finally get to experience it for myself!
I wasn’t able to get FastPasses for Flights of Passage, despite being on the My Disney Experience app one hour after the 60 day window opened for booking FP. One hour. Crazy. So that means we’ll either have to brave rope drop, or just keep checking MDE in the run up to our Animal Kingdom visit.
I did manage to book FP for Na’vi River Journey. I also want to visit Satu’li Canteen to try the cheeseburger pods I’ve heard so much about. Oh, and the Night Blossom drink, apparently also an Instagrammers’ dream.
Visit the runDisney Expo
This is a must do more in the sense of a ‘have to’. My mother and I are running the Princess 5K on Friday 23rd February so we need to go to the expo in order to pick up our running bibs etc. We’ve never done a runDisney event before so along with the race itself, I’m looking forward to having a look around the expo. I’m sure I’ll be tempted by Disney themed running gear that I will never use. I’ve heard that the expo is really busy when it first opens, so we’ll probably visit later in the day.
Watch Happily Ever After
This is a crucial one! I’ve been dodging Happily Ever After spoilers since it debuted last May. I’m incredibly proud of myself as I’ve not seen anything besides a couple of stills of fireworks and castle projections.
I absolutely sobbed my heart out when I watched Wishes for the last time in March 2017, so you’ll know I was very attached to that particular fireworks display.
I’ve heard only good things about HEA so I am very much looking forward to watching it. I’ll try not to watch it with Wishes-tainted eyes. Though I will be wearing my ‘goodbye Wishes’ t-shirt out of principle.
Those are just some of my must do items. There are, of course, plenty of other things that I want to do, like riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (many many times if possible), taking copious photos of Spaceship Earth, and eating and drinking my way around the World at Flower & Garden Festival. I’ll report back post trip.
